About us

Background information
Gaywood Parent and Toddler Group is based at Gaywood Church Rooms, Gayton Road, Kings Lynn, Norfolk, opposite the Gayton Road Health Centre and just around the corner from the local Aldi store.

Our group was formed in 1986 and has been run by local mums ever since . The group is run on a purely voluntary basis and relies on the support of the parents that attend.

Gaywood Parent and Toddler Group has been running at the Church Rooms for over 20 years now and we all hope our group can continue to support new parents and carers by helping them to make new friendships with other local parents whilst teaching children how to interact with other children of all different ages! About us
The group is currently organised and run by Lynda, a caring and experienced mum with children of varying ages who started attending Gaywood Parent Toddler Group when her children were much younger and liked it so much she decided to take it over when the previous group leader moved away.

We run two morning sessions a week during term-time/one morning a week during the school holidays. Our group is based in a large hall which has plenty of room for the children to play in. We have a variety of different toys, puzzles and books for the children to play with. Back to top
New members
We are always happy to see new faces at our sessions, regardless of age or religion. Mums, dads, grandparents or carers with young children are all welcome at our group. We do not have any waiting lists, new members are welcome to just turn up during any of our sessions.

We do not mind if you live in the area or are just visiting, you are welcome to come in for a drink and a friendly chat! You may even bring a friend along, if you don't want to come on your own!

Our group meets in the larger of the two halls, on the right hand side of Gaywood Church Rooms (Gaywood Methodist Playgroup meets in the smaller hall on the left hand side) so feel free to just turn up and ring the doorbell to let us know you are there!

And don't worry about bringing your buggy along, we have a large secure area just for buggies just as you go in. Back to top
The aim of our group
Our toddler group aims to offer a friendly, informal atmosphere that people can bring their babies and young children along to - as well as the chance to meet other parents with young children. We have a variety of toys, puzzles and books for children to play with during the session as well as a soft matted area for parents with young babies to sit on. We have a selection of baby toys & equipment and new mums are always welcome.

Throughout the year we also offer:
Easter egg hunt, themed activities, a regular book magazine, either a Zoo or farm park trip etc, the occasional session at Planet Zoom, the chance to have your childrens photos taken by a great professional photographer plus a fun packed Christmas Party with a visit from Father Christmas! Important information
Our toddler group is aimed at children aged 0 - 3 years of age although children over 3 years are welcome to attend our sessions. However, it is important that parents and carers understand that they must take responsibilty for ANY children they bring along to our sessions. Parents must be prepared to keep a watchful eye on their children to prevent any accidents etc. Back to top
Fundraising
Because the toddler group is run on a voluntary basis, we do not receive any funding of any kind. This means that the group relies heavily on its members to help keep it running. Unfortunately most of the money we make from our session charges goes straight towards paying the rent to the Church Rooms which means we have to try and raise money in other ways.

Here are some of the ways you can help us raise money for our group:

1. Visit our Web shop www.buy.at/gaywoodparenttoddler (courtesy of BT) next time you are planning to buy goods/services online. Retailers who are participating include: ELC, Play.com, Amazon, Thorntons, BT, Littlewoods, M & S, John Lewis plus many, many others!!! Every time you order through our Web shop, we will receive a small percentage towards our group and every little helps!

2. Play Lynda's Lucky Lottery Bingo!

This costs £1 a week. Members have to choose 6 numbers just like on the National Lottery. Every week Lynda & Karen will check the National Lottery numbers and mark off any members' numbers which may have come up. Obviously nobody ever gets 6 numbers in the first week so each week it rolls over and more and more numbers get marked off until one of our members gets all of their 6 numbers marked off and wins 70% of whatever is in the Lottery Bingo pot. The other 30% goes into toddler group funds. Back to top
